Full Technology Deployment for a Multi-Wing Medical Office

Project Overview:

This project involved a large-scale infrastructure buildout for a medical group expanding into a newly constructed office space within an existing commercial building in Lancaster, CA. The client occupied two separate wings on the same floor, requiring a unified and secure network environment across both areas.

Our scope included complete network infrastructure deployment, structured cabling (approximately 1,000 feet of new CAT6), access control installation, surveillance system setup, workstation connectivity, and conference room AV integration. Due to the nature of building within an existing structure, the project required careful routing of new cabling, hardware retrofitting, and close coordination with the general contractor and multiple trades.

The result was a fully operational, secure, and scalable medical office infrastructure delivered through extensive on-site execution and adaptive coordination.

Project Goals:

• Design and deploy a unified network infrastructure across two building wings.
• Install structured CAT6 cabling to support exam rooms, offices, cubicles, and shared spaces.

Project Milestones:

Infrastructure Planning & Multi-Wing Network Design:

• Assessed the layout of both building wings and designed a network topology to unify them.
• Established a hardwired backbone connection between the two wings to ensure stable, high-speed connectivity.
• Coordinated MDF/IDF placement and routing paths within an existing building structure.

Structured Cabling Deployment (~1,000 ft CAT6):

• Ran approximately 1,000 feet of new CAT6 cabling throughout the facility.
• Routed cabling through walls and ceilings to create clean, permanent installations.
• Installed, terminated, and keystoned CAT6 wall outlets with labeled plate covers.
• Extended hardwired connectivity through cubicle workstations for reliable desktop and VoIP support.
• Tested and certified cable runs to ensure performance and compliance.

Workstation & Clinical Area Setup:

• Connected and configured computers across exam rooms, administrative offices, and shared workspaces.
• Ensured reliable hardwired connections in all desk and clinical areas.
• Modified and reinforced previously installed patient room monitor/keyboard wall mounts to improve ergonomics, security, and stability.
• Verified secure mounting and proper positioning for daily clinical use.

Access Control Installation & Configuration:

• Installed and configured maglocks, electric strikes, and exit buttons across secured entry points.
• Navigated structural routing constraints while maintaining clean and code-compliant installations.
• Programmed access levels and tested fail-safe and secure access functionality.
• Ensured compliance with life safety and building requirements.

Surveillance System Deployment:

• Installed and configured surveillance cameras for interior monitoring.
• Positioned cameras to cover hallways, entry points, and critical operational areas.
• Integrated recording systems for centralized monitoring and playback.

Conference Room & Bullpen AV Integration:

• Mounted TVs in conference rooms and bullpen areas.
• Ensured proper cable concealment and secure mounting.
• Connected displays to network infrastructure for collaboration and presentations.
• Tested audio/visual functionality to support meetings and team coordination.

Construction Coordination & Execution:

• Worked closely with the general contractor to align installation phases.
• Adapted to evolving construction timelines, including scheduling adjustments around flooring completion.
• Coordinated installations alongside other trades to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Addressed additional infrastructure needs identified during later build phases to ensure operational readiness.
