Network, Security & Surveillance Infrastructure Deployment in Santa Ana, CA

Complete Office & Warehouse Technology Buildout

Project Overview:

This project involved the full deployment of network, security, and surveillance infrastructure for a newly built office and warehouse facility in Santa Ana, CA. Our team delivered a comprehensive wired network, installed a centralized server rack system, implemented IP-based surveillance cameras, and deployed an access control system — all while coordinating closely with the general contractor (GC) and other trades to meet construction timelines.
This was a ground-up infrastructure project designed to support operational efficiency, security, and future scalability.

Project Goals:

  • Design and install a reliable wired network for both office and warehouse operations.
  • Deploy a structured cabling system to support workstations, VoIP phones, printers, and warehouse devices.
  • Install and configure a centralized server rack for clean and scalable network management.
  • Implement a surveillance camera system to enhance security and visibility.
  • Deploy an access control system to secure key entry points.
  • Coordinate installation phases with the GC and other vendors to ensure on-time completion.

Project Milestones:

Site Assessment & Infrastructure Planning:

  • Conducted walkthroughs during construction phases to determine optimal rack placement, cable routing paths, and device locations.
  • Designed a structured cabling plan for office workstations, warehouse stations, and network equipment.
  • Identified optimal camera mounting positions to eliminate blind spots and maximize coverage.
  • Planned secure entry points for access control hardware.

Structured Cabling & Wired Network Installation:

  • Installed CAT6 cabling throughout the office and warehouse areas.
  • Terminated and tested all data drops for performance and reliability.
  • Labeled and organized all cabling for long-term manageability.
  • Ensured compliance with industry cabling standards and best practices.

Server Rack Installation & Network Setup:

  • Installed and secured a dedicated server rack.
  • Mounted patch panels, switches, firewall, and network equipment.
  • Implemented cable management solutions for clean airflow and organization.
  • Configured core networking hardware, including routing, VLAN segmentation, and firewall security policies.

Surveillance Camera System Deployment:

  • Installed and mounted IP-based security cameras in both interior and exterior locations.
  • Positioned cameras to cover entrances, loading docks, warehouse aisles, and office spaces.
  • Configured NVR system for centralized monitoring and recording.
  • Adjusted camera angles and settings to optimize image clarity and coverage.

Access Control Installation:

  • Installed access control hardware on designated entry points.
  • Integrated door controllers and credential readers.
  • Configured user permissions and access schedules.
  • Tested fail-safe and secure entry functionality.

Coordination & Project Management:

  • Worked closely with the general contractor and electrical vendors to align with construction timelines.
  • Coordinated low-voltage pathways and device placement to avoid conflicts with other trades.
  • Ensured all installations were completed prior to final inspections and occupancy.

Project Outcome:

The project was successfully completed on schedule, delivering a fully operational and secure technology infrastructure for the office and warehouse facility.
Key outcomes include:

  • A robust wired network supporting office staff and warehouse operations.
  • A professionally installed and organized server rack for centralized network management.
  • Full surveillance coverage of critical operational areas.
  • A secure access control system protecting key entry points.
  • Scalable infrastructure ready to support future growth and expansion.

Lessons Learned:

  • Early coordination with the GC and other trades is critical for seamless low-voltage integration.
  • Proper rack layout and cable management significantly reduce long-term maintenance challenges.
  • Strategic camera placement during installation prevents costly repositioning later.
  • Building scalable infrastructure from the start prevents future retrofitting costs.

Next Steps:

  • Implement ongoing system monitoring and maintenance.
  • Expand surveillance coverage as operational needs evolve.
  • Explore cloud-based camera backups and remote access solutions.
  • Integrate access control reporting and management tools for enhanced administrative oversight.

Acknowledgments:

We extend our appreciation to the project team, general contractor, vendors, and facility stakeholders for their collaboration and coordination throughout this successful infrastructure deployment.
