Project Overview:

Our recent project focused on assisting a Content Creator Studio in purchasing a network switch, configuring it, wiring existing patch panels to it, configuring VLANs, and ensuring that all iMacs and MacBook Pros were hardwired into the network. This recap outlines the key milestones and accomplishments of this networking infrastructure project.

Project Goals:

1. Improve the network infrastructure of the Content Creator Studio for efficient and reliable data transfer.
2. Provide a seamless network experience for content creators by hardwiring iMacs and MacBook Pros.
3. Enhance network security and segmentation through VLAN configuration.

Project Milestones:

1. Needs Assessment and Planning:

   • Conducted an assessment of the studio’s existing network infrastructure to determine needs and limitations.
   • Designed a plan for upgrading the network, including the purchase of a suitable network switch and other hardware.

2. Network Switch Procurement and Installation:

   • Assisted in selecting an appropriate network switch that met the studio’s requirements.
   • Installed the network switch in the designated location, ensuring it was securely mounted.

3. Wiring and Patch Panel Integration:

   • Wired existing patch panels to the newly installed network switch, connecting data lines.
   • Ensured cable management and labeling for an organized and efficient setup.

4. VLAN Configuration:

   • Configured Virtual LANs (VLANs) on the network switch to segment traffic and enhance network security.
   • Assigned devices, such as iMacs and MacBook Pros, to the appropriate VLANs based on their usage.

5. Hardwiring iMacs and MacBook Pros:

   • Connected all iMacs and MacBook Pros to the network via Ethernet cables for improved performance and reliability.
   • Tested network connectivity and data transfer speeds on each device.

6. Testing and Quality Assurance:

   • Conducted extensive testing to verify the functionality of the network switch and VLAN configuration.
   • Checked for VLAN segmentation and ensured traffic isolation.
   • Verified that all iMacs and MacBook Pros were successfully hardwired into the network.
